WAILUKU—Maui County’s Department of Environmental Management has prepared an Environmental Assessment and Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed Wailuku-Kahului Wastewater Reclamation Facility Shoreline Protection Extension Project, which will be published in The Environmental Notice on January 23.

This EA/EISPN presents various alternatives being explored by the County to protect the Wailuku-Kahului Wastewater Reclamation Facility, located at Amala Place in Kahului, from ongoing shoreline erosion and rising sea levels. The County is seeking public input on the proposed project during the thirty day comment period, which ends on February 21.

No decision has been made on the proposed alternatives. Construction funds are not yet allocated pending Council action.
